Looking at teamwork in particular, I feel like messaging apps at work blur the hierarchy of the different ‘teams’ you are in. Working closely with your actual team is important, and you can achieve extremely high productivity.
However, because you get notified by all the other ‘teams’ you are in, be that a management group, the #random channel or whatever, all these other ‘teams’ are all of a sudden on the same level.
This is what really kills our productivity. We have lost the idea of different teams being more important than others.
